I have found it up to now to be functional But GO for GMAIL Is soooooo much faster, clearner, than Apple Mail that I am thinking seriously of looking to find a way to do all my email via this app.. I have used Apple Mail for my mail client well forever But with Sierra I am having more and more trouble with mail.. Of course, Apple Mail can access different types of mail accounts, including iCLOUD-based email and Google-based email..
